Watta iOS app showing a rowing workout with Effort Score, heart rate zone and performance data

Everything in the free app.

One download replaces your camera roll of erg photos, your spreadsheet, and your notes app.

Photo capture

Photograph any Concept2 PM5 (or PM3/PM4) screen, or upload an old photo or screenshot. Distance, time, split, stroke rate and intervals are read for you — plus watts, heart rate, calories and drag factor when the monitor shows them — and shown for review before saving.

Effort Score 0-100

One number per session from cardiac load, work output, pacing, economy, with the breakdown behind it.

Heart rate zones

Five zones from resting and max heart rate by the Karvonen (heart-rate reserve) method: 50/60/70/80/90% of reserve. Each piece is labelled by zone; interval screens give an estimated zone breakdown.

Clubs & leaderboards

Join a club, form a squad, and see how you rank by Effort Score, distance or time.

Strava & Concept2 Logbook

Push every logged piece to Strava automatically, and import the workouts you upload to the Concept2 Logbook through a read-only link.

PBs & achievements

Personal bests per distance and per machine, streaks, goals, saved session templates and 30 achievement badges.

What you need

  • · An iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later
  • · A Concept2 RowErg, SkiErg or BikeErg with a PM5 monitor (PM3 and PM4 screens work too)
  • · A free account (Apple, Google, or email sign-in)
  • · Optional: a heart rate strap paired to the PM5, so heart rate appears on the screen for the full Effort Score

Download questions.

Is Watta free to download?

Yes. Watta is free to download and use on the App Store. There is no subscription and no paywall.

Which iPhones can run Watta?

Watta runs on any iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later installed. That covers the iPhone 6s and every model released since.

Does Watta work on iPad?

Watta is designed for iPhone. On iPad it runs in iPhone compatibility mode.

Is Watta available for Android?

An Android version is in closed beta on Google Play. Join at getwatta.com/android: opt in on Google Play if your account is already on the tester list, or leave your email and we add you and tell you when it is public.

Do I need a Concept2 rowing machine?

Watta reads Concept2 performance monitors: the PM5 on the RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg, and the older PM3 and PM4. Photos of other brands' monitors are not supported, though you can still log those sessions by typing the numbers in.

Do I need a heart rate monitor to use Watta?

No. Watta scores every workout from power, duration, pacing and stroke rate alone. If you pair a heart rate strap to the PM5 so the heart rate shows on the screen, Watta reads it from the photo and uses it for the Cardiac Load part of the Effort Score.

How long does setup take?

About two minutes. Download the app, create a free account with Apple, Google or email, set your weight and your resting and max heart rate if you know them, and log your first workout with one photo.

Does Watta sync with Strava?

Yes. Connect your Strava account once in settings and every logged erg workout pushes to Strava automatically. Watta also imports the workouts you upload to the Concept2 Logbook through a read-only connection.
